Get Moore Out of Your Wedding

We have sat at the round of ten, danced in the hotel ballroom and even (gasp) thrown rice. Though these predictable wedding staples are practical, they are also passe. Brides and planners have been pushing the envelope in recent years, experimenting with everything from colors and textures to venus, menus and logistics.

Take a look at the wedding of Javier and Legne. This power couple ditched the hotel ballroom for the architecturally advanced Moore Building, traded the rounds of ten for long rectangular tables, and used liquid nitrogen to add some "cool" to their menu.

FRIDAY HAPPY HOUR
The Mango Alexander

Ingredients
3/4 cup water
3/4 cup sugar
3 cups unsweetened coconut milk
1/2 cup fresh lime juice, plus 2 teaspoons finely grated lime zest
2 cups mango vodka (see Note)
Ice

DIRECTIONS
In a small saucepan, combine the water with the sugar. Bring to a simmer and cook over moderate heat until the sugar dissolves, about 1 minute. Transfer the sugar syrup to a small bowl and let stand until cool, about 20 minutes.
In a large pitcher, mix the coconut milk with the lime juice and sugar syrup. Pour in the vodka. Fill the pitcher with ice and stir until the mixture is chilled. Pour the mixture into martini glasses, sprinkle with the lime zest and serve.

NOTES
Mango vodka is available commercially, but you can also make it at home: In a jar, combine 2 cups of vodka with 2 cups of diced fresh mango. Cover and refrigerate overnight or for up to 4 days. Strain, discarding the mango.
